ECG Celebrates 50years. +++ 50 Years of Powering the Socio-Economic Growth and Development of Ghana

Female staff of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have started clamping down on illegal connection of power.

Supported by members of the Loss Control Unit of the ECG, in one such episode the female staff, led by Ms Rosemond Asamoah Frimpong, the National President of the Power Queens Club, visited houses in Kaneshie, Swanlake and Fadama in Accra last Friday. 

Sixty out of the 150 customers whose meters were inspected were found to have engaged in illegal connections and had consumed power to the tune of GH¢120,000.

The affected customers had their electricity supply disconnected and  were surcharged with the power had consumed

The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited on Wednesday 15th July 2016, held a one-day sensitization programme for customers in Adum, a suburb of Kumasi to introduce the rollout of the SMART-G prepaid meter installation in the area. By 10:00 am customers and general public thronged the Paul Sagoe Lane in their numbers, some of whom were unhappy and vowed to resist any attempt to install the prepaid meter in their premises.

 

On the 11th day of July 2016, the General Manager of the Training Centre was welcomed from his leave with a surprise party organised by the staff.

The party was to say Ayekoo to their General Manager Dr. Ing. George Yaw Marfo for acquiring a Doctorate Degree from Swiss Management Centre University.In response, Dr. Marfo thanked God for how far He has brought him and the staff for their support. 

Customers of ECG have been affected by unannounced outages for some weeks now, causing   a lot of uneasiness.  Many customers have turned to social media to vent their anger and frustration.

Responding to the numerous complaints by customers, the General Manager/Public Relations at ECG, Mr. William Boateng indicated that ECG has been affected by Generation challenges in the country. This means that ECG, the state distributor  for six regions in Ghana,  does not get enough power from its generators to supply to customers.
