ECG Injects 83 Transformers in the Central Region

The Electricity Company of Ghana has injected eighty three (83) transformers into the Regional operational area to improve power supply in the Region.
The transformers with capacities ranging from 50kVA to 315kVA were added to the national grid in 2016 at the cost of GH¢12,432,423.02.
The distribution transformers were injected into communities in Cape Coast, Kasoa, Swedru, Winneba and across six (6) other ECG operational districts in the Region.
The system improvement project forms part of efforts by the Company to improve customer end voltage and ensure supply reliability.
The Regional Engineer, Ing. Birimpong Yeboah stated that the injection of new transformers into the existing ECG network was also to tackle the problem of over-loading due to the increase in customers resulting in increase in load on existing transformers.
He told The Daily Graphic that the ECG had carried out a number of projects including the extension of power supply to rural and peri-urban communities within the Region.
“These reflect the Company’s resolve to continually improve the customer’s experience through capital investment,” he added.
Mr. Isaac Nurris Ainooson, the Public Relations Officer of the Region said the projects were initiated to meet the Company’s growth strategy and address customer complaints.
